I invite you to come and join me on this pilgrimage to change the world through thankfulness. Perhaps if enough of us join together we can change the negative climate that exists and is overtaking our planet. Together we can move our fellow citizens of to a better, higher and finer place.
Like most people the turning of the calendar year always makes me become very aware of the passage of time. Today with that thought in my mind I am very, very thankful to paraphrase David Budbill to be alive in this life. this morning, under this sky.
Winter: Tonight: Sunset by David Budbill
Tonight at sunset walking on the snowy road, my shoes crunching on the frozen gravel, first
through the woods, then out into the open fields past a couple of trailers and some pickup trucks, I stop
and look at the sky. Suddenly: orange, red, pink, blue, green, purple, yellow, gray, all at once and everywhere.
I pause in this moment at the beginning of my old age and I say a prayer of gratitude for getting to this evening
a prayer for being here, today, now, alive in this life, in this evening, under this sky.
Jacqueline and I invite you to join in on our blogging event called The Writer’s Quote Challenge.
This is Jacqueline’s week and her prompt follows:
“We are all vessels. The question is what are the contents of your vessel?” Jacqueline
My thoughts this week turn to the new year of 2017 approaching and Jacqueline’s quote left me thinking about how we are all vessels sailing into the new year with hope for the future. The following poem spoke to me:
Upon the bridge you stand; It’s your ship, aye, your own ship, And you are in command. Just what the twelve months’ trip will do Rests wholly, solely, friend, with you.
Your logbook kept from day to day My friend, what will it show? Have you on your appointed way Made progress, yes or no? The log will tell, like guiding star, The sort of captain that you are.
For weal or woe this year is yours; Your ship is on life’s sea Your acts, as captain, must decide Whichever it shall be; So now in starting on your trip, into the New Year!
