A PHOTO A WEEK CHALLENGE: CELEBRATIONS

When I was in Croatia, we were looking for a place to lunch.  We came upon this tavern which had this raucous celebration in progress.

Thanks Nancy Merrill for providing the prompt.  https://nadiamerrillphotography.wordpress.com/

CELEBRATING VACATION BEGINNINGS AND ENDINGS

MY WEEKLY THANK YOU NOTE TO GOD. THANK YOU RUTH AYERS FOR MAKING THIS SPACE AVAILABLE.
MY WEEKLY THANK YOU NOTE TO GOD. THANK YOU RUTH AYERS FOR MAKING THIS SPACE AVAILABLE.

I have been away for the last twelve days.  And I have been on a deliberate writing fast.  I know that in diet, fasting can speed up your metabolism and give all your organs a bit of a rest.  So, I decided to use this time to see if the writing muse needed a break and will reward me with lots of creative moments going forward.

So, I celebrate the beginning of 12 days spent in paradise with my wonderful husband.  It wasn’t such an onerous place to fast.  I even inherited a pet who I named Igor (even though his presence every morning was a bit unnerving).

And I celebrate the end of vacation and my writing fast and a return to you my gentle readers.  I have missed our conversations.

CELEBRATING – MY GRANDFATHER

MY WEEKLY THANK YOU NOTE TO GOD. THANK YOU RUTH AYERS FOR MAKING THIS SPACE AVAILABLE.
MY WEEKLY THANK YOU NOTE TO GOD. THANK YOU RUTH AYERS FOR MAKING THIS SPACE AVAILABLE.

This has been a terrible week.  Our family is experiencing a terrible problem which is shaking the foundation of love upon which our family is built.

I thought that we were closed to resolving this problem this week and was looking forward to celebrating an easing of the small earth quakes that keep shaking my family’s foundation.

I was sort of like the road runner jogging along, keeping my head turned behind me, putting distance between me and the threat when I went over a new cliff with arms and legs all akimbo.

It is grey and dreary here in New Jersey this morning and I prayed for a reason to smile.  And them out of the dreariness I thought of my beloved Grandfather and how much he looked like Jimmy Durante.  Then I stumbled upon this video of Jimmy Durante singing with Louis Armstrong.  Now this could not have been a more perfect balm for my soul.  Jimmy who always brings Grandpop back to life and Louis who is my all time favorite.  So, I hope this works because I hope to share my smile with you.

Wishing you many reasons to smile,

Bernadette

CELEBRATING THE AUTUMN

MY WEEKLY THANK YOU NOTE TO GOD.
MY WEEKLY THANK YOU NOTE TO GOD.

THANK YOU RUTH AYERS FOR PROVIDING THIS OPPORTUNITY TO REFLECT UPON THE  GOODNESS OF THE WEEK.

I have had many reasons to celebrate this week.

  • I had a lunch and a movie with one of my favorite guys, my grandson.
  • I received good news from my dear friend about her cancer treatment.
  • had a lot of opportunity to write this week and
  • lots of opportunity to get out and walk and appreciate the autumnal beauty.

I took this photo on an early morning walk this week.  You can’t help but want to thank God for opening your eyes to such beauty.

CELEBRATING SMALL THINGS

MY WEEKLY THANK YOU NOTE TO GOD.
MY WEEKLY THANK YOU NOTE TO GOD.

Life got a little better this week.  Celebrating got easier.

  • Celebrating it finally rained.  We have been 18 days with heat and no rain.
  • Speaking of heat, celebrating that the rain brought coolness and a break from the humidity.
  • Celebrating our friends who invited us over on Labor Day for delicious homemade Bloody Mary’s.
  • Celebrating that there are enough Jersey tomatoes still at the farmer’s stand to whip up a batch of Bloody Mary mix with the help of another friend this weekend.
  • Celebrating getting to spend the day with my beautiful granddaughter.
  • Celebrating my office staff who hung with us when the air conditioner decided to die on a 90 degree workday.
  • Celebrating taking Writing 101 and so far so good with keeping up with the homework.

Wishing you all many Celebrations both large and small,

Bernadette
