My friend Clive over at Take It Easy, http://cliveblogs.wordpress.com, has invited me to participate in a three day quote challenge.
We are deep into the moody twilight of autumn here in New Jersey. A time of the day that is filled with the hoot of the owl, the smell of a fire and the sounds of children calling to each other as they scurry home.
The first stanza of the Children’s Hour by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow always put me in mind to this particular time of the day:
“Between the dark and the daylight,
When the night is beginning to lower,
Comes a pause in the day’s occupations,
That is known as the Children’s Hour.”
Thanks for taking the time to stop by,
Beautiful photo!

Wonderfully atmospheric photograph, Bernadette – along with that and the poem I feel I’ve been transported to another era! I’m sure we could all do with a ‘pause in the day’s occupations’!
