I believe in the power of positive group energy. Perhaps if enough of us join together we can change the negative climate that exists and is overtaking our planet. Together we can move our fellow citizens of to a better, higher and finer place.

At the end of the post you will find a link up frog and I hope you will join me on this venture and once a week write a post and link up to others and share what you are thankful for this week.

I recently had the great pleasure of spending a few days with my friends at their beach house.  One of the things my friend and I enjoy doing together is taking a morning walk.  And, boy, what a treat these morning walks were.  We took our walks on the boardwalk and had the whole ocean to admire.  The sun shone on us, the temperatures were low and their was no humidity – what more could a walker ask for?

As we walked along the second morning, a woman started directly for us with a huge smile on her face.  The smile was so happy that her mood was infectious.  I quickly found myself smiling back at her although I had no idea who she was and what we were smiling about.

She excitedly stopped us and pointed to the ocean.  “Quick!  Look out there, there are dolphin pods out there.”  And sure enough the dolphins came into view doing their happy dance in the ocean and quickly my heart was lighter and my mood even more lifted.

She went on with her walk and we continued on with ours.  But I just can’t get over how extraordinary that encounter was.  My unknown friend was bursting with joy and by sharing it with us the joy multiplied.

I hope that by writing these posts that we will move together beyond thankfulness into appreciation. Because appreciation for the moments and things for which we give thanks requires us to be mindful of our lives. Thankfulness is the soil in which joy thrives.

About Bernadette

I live in the small town of Haddonfield, NJ. I am at an age in my life when I seem to spend time thinking and musing about life. These musings are usually stimulated by my walks through Haddonfield, my reading of books and fellow bloggers, and my interaction with my group of fabulous family and friends.

  2. What a lovely encounter, Bernadette. Your mysterious friend there was certainly a kind soul and so trusting, to nice to you and your friend. I like how you say it, “we will move together beyond thankfulness into appreciation”. So true. It’s one thing to be thankful and another to stop and think of others and accept them for who we are. We can be anybody and we can enjoy dolphins jumping out of the water, just as we can be anybody and live in this world side by side as one 🙂

  3. It truly is a joy to go walking along the beach, & I’m glad you saw the dolphins, too. That woman couldn’t wait to share, could she! I do love your thankfulness graphic, Bernadette-the most restful look! Thank you!
