YOUTH

My youth resides happily in my mind

and

is indelibly written on my heart.

Or so I thought.

As each co-conspirator drifts away

or

is completely wrenched away.

I’m not sure.

Can you stay young alone?

About Bernadette

I live in the small town of Haddonfield, NJ. I am at an age in my life when I seem to spend time thinking and musing about life. These musings are usually stimulated by my walks through Haddonfield, my reading of books and fellow bloggers, and my interaction with my group of fabulous family and friends.

Awww…so sad! I haven’t had any of my close friends from my youth pass yet, but I’m sure it’s going to be traumatic. I’m sending you positive vibes and I’m thankful for the memories you have of your friends. They will always keep them alive in your heart. ((Hugs))

  2. My mother often said when asked about aging to think of the alternative, and I remember. I haven’t lost any close friends yet, but my husband, and that keeps me going. I know it may sound odd, but I’m the one left who knew him best, so will stay around remembering him as long as I can. Love the picture, maybe bittersweet, but also might be their fond memories.

  3. Too sad! A very poignant image—bittersweet, like Linda suggested. I realize that because of my many re-locations in my life, I have very few friends of my youth around me. It’s fortunate that I was born to a large family of females (six girls, one boy) so that assuages me somewhat.

  4. I wonder about your question too. I was young when I lived in Tuvia’s love. He was older and I was younger. Now that layer is gone. I’m on my own to preserve my essence.
Love that poem…works right for me. 🙂
