I was at the gym walking on the treadmill this week and watching the Today Show. The day was February 9. They said that February 9 marked the day of the year when people gave up on their New Year’s resolutions. Apparently, the way they arrived at that conclusion was by polling fitness centers and finding that attendance at fitness centers steadily declines after that date.
Since it was February 9 and I was on a treadmill and my OLW is:
I am celebrating that I persisted in my exercise goals so far for 2016.
The other area that I didn’t want to slack off was in my new project, the Senior Salon. I am excited to celebrate that I have faithfully worked every day on building that community of artists and have watched it grow week after week.
I am excited to share with you this celebration that my tiny muscle of persistence is gaining some strength. Maybe by December I will look like this: (well, maybe just the muscle part)
Wish me luck,
Bernadette
Keep going. You are not in the percentage that fall off 😄

All the best, Bernadette. I know you’ll do very well. And I love the quote, too… thanks for reminding us to be persistent like the stream.

It is a little cold in Somerset, to be present in a stream… he he persitant like a stream. Well I ticked off one of the big goals I’d set for 2016 so the 9th was not for me the dday to give in. Congratulations I am glad you “Perseyweer” Your blog introduces more friends and connections for me, which were seriously lacking before I virtually met blog to blog. So well done in all your goals we can virtually pat each others backs; for not giving up or giving in. 😇

Well done and keep it up: that’s 44 days down and only 322 to go this year 😂 And thank you for the Senior Salon, it has opened up the blog world for me.

Good for you, Bernadette! Keep going for your goals. (I wonder how they came up with the date February 9th…??)

What would we do without research to tell us how we are thinking and behaving! But I agree that resolutions do fall off during February—I’ve certainly noticed that at my own gym. Thanks for the SS, and for all you do for our on-line community!

Great post about persisting with your OLW. I certainly wouldn’t want your muscles to pop out like Popeye but having persistence is a wonderful goal. Glad that you are sticking to your New Year thought to guide you through 2016.

I’m glad I didn’t pick this word because I would have failed by now. My word is Present and that is working just fine for me. Congratulations on keeping your resolution for exercise. Keep it up!

Congratulations, Bernadette. I’m proud for you too about that persistence, in the gym & with your new project. I will check it out, and wish I could participate, but am just full up right now. Best wishes for growth, in both things! Love the Popeye analogy, very fun.

Good for you, Bernadette, for persevering with that treadmill. I didn’t post in the senior salon, but I did visit and read! You’ve done a great job building that community. Have a wonderful Sunday and keep it up 🙂

Pretty soon, it’s such a habit that it feels worse not to do it! And I love this quote…I’ll have to reuse it! jodie

Aw hell…I have belonged to my gym for a year now, and a different gym before that. I try to avoid the joint in January, when the place gets ridiculously crowded. Keep going! You’re going to like the place even better when the “resolutionists” start to fall off! Nice blog! Glad I found ya!
