“Memories light the corners of my mind,
Misty water-colored memories of the way we were.”
I am celebrating the ghost of Christmas past. I went for my walk the other morning and came upon a home that had its windows done up with glass wax stencils.
” When I wore a younger woman’s clothes”, our Christmas decorating always began with Glass Wax and the stencils. Seeing this window made all the memories rush back in of doings the windows, putting red ribbon around the front posts so that they looked like candy canes, stringing popcorn and cranberries and watching the Charlie Brown Christmas Special. For a brief moment, the ghost of Christmas past transported me back in time and I saw my three little boys laughing and filled to the brim with the excitement and anticipation of Christmas.
Remembering Christmas pasts are mixed emotions for me. I love the longing in your post and the simple beauty! Merry Christmas!

I spend an inordinate amount of time recalling Christmases past. Possibly this is tied to the fact that my Christmas decorations go back decades, and when I take them our of the boxes, I automatically go hurtling down memory lane…So now I’ve now done my decorating, and my remembering for another year!

I didn’t know those kinds of stencils could still be purchased. I’ll look for them. Love your own memory, and at Christmas I guess many of us are remembering other times. I also like to think that I’m helping make memories for the future with my granddaughters. Merry Christmas to you, too!
