CELEBRATING – MY GRANDFATHER

MY WEEKLY THANK YOU NOTE TO GOD. THANK YOU RUTH AYERS FOR MAKING THIS SPACE AVAILABLE.
MY WEEKLY THANK YOU NOTE TO GOD. THANK YOU RUTH AYERS FOR MAKING THIS SPACE AVAILABLE.

This has been a terrible week.  Our family is experiencing a terrible problem which is shaking the foundation of love upon which our family is built.

I thought that we were closed to resolving this problem this week and was looking forward to celebrating an easing of the small earth quakes that keep shaking my family’s foundation.

I was sort of like the road runner jogging along, keeping my head turned behind me, putting distance between me and the threat when I went over a new cliff with arms and legs all akimbo.

It is grey and dreary here in New Jersey this morning and I prayed for a reason to smile.  And them out of the dreariness I thought of my beloved Grandfather and how much he looked like Jimmy Durante.  Then I stumbled upon this video of Jimmy Durante singing with Louis Armstrong.  Now this could not have been a more perfect balm for my soul.  Jimmy who always brings Grandpop back to life and Louis who is my all time favorite.  So, I hope this works because I hope to share my smile with you.

Wishing you many reasons to smile,

Bernadette

About Bernadette

I live in the small town of Haddonfield, NJ. I am at an age in my life when I seem to spend time thinking and musing about life. These musings are usually stimulated by my walks through Haddonfield, my reading of books and fellow bloggers, and my interaction with my group of fabulous family and friends.

  1. It worked! Found you from Diane’s “The Lucky Few” and must tell you that you definitely started my day with a smile. How fun is that video! Hope whatever your problems are, resolution comes soon.

  2. Isn’t it wonderful that we can still see parts of those old shows? You’ve brought back memories of my own grandfather and me, watching Jimmy Durante and Louis Armstrong. We loved them, too. Hugs across the way to you for this family struggle. I hope it resolves in the best way possible, Bernadette. Thank you for sharing the burden so we can take a little part of it for you.

  3. Dear Bernadette, so sorry that this “Thanksgiving” week has been filled with earth shaking problems. Jimmy Durante always seemed to bring wit and kindness that filled in his sorrow. I pray the days ahead bring resolution and peace. Joanne

      1. Prayers continuing for you and your family. I liked the line in the song about love. I’m not sure what the issue is, but with thoughts of your grandfather I just want to say that with all of Christ’s saying about love I have come to believe that it is true, Love never ends. It is what endures. No matter what. I wish you and your family a renewed sense of all the love you share and an awareness of all God’s love for you.
