MY OLW – LIGHT HEARTED

OPEN YOUR HEART TO THE POSSIBILITY THAT JOY AND LAUGHTER ARE IN THE WORLD AND YOU WILL FIND IT.

Many people at the start of the new year pick a word to live by for the year instead of making a resolution.  For 2015 I chose Light Hearted.  I am such a serious person that I felt that I needed to lighten up.

I promised myself that I would smile more.  I went out and bought books by various authors who write in a light hearted manner.  I reminded myself not to always write about serious subjects.  Well, all of this was going smoothly until the end of March.

From the first of April until today, I have been assaulted by constant sadness brought on by my friends, family, and myself being attacked by difficulties and illness.

But as I restarted my morning walks a few weeks ago I came upon this oddity lying by the side of the walk –

toothbrush

and this thought came to mind as a caption:

SAID THE ONE TOOTHBRUSH TO HIS MATE, I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU BUDDY, BUT I’M OUTTA HERE.  I’M GOING TO FIND A NICE DRY MEDICINE CABINET TO LIVE IN.

And I just spontaneously laughed for the first time in a few month.  So, I am picking up my word again and I am taking pictures of these discarded oddities.  And, every once in a while I am going to start posting these pictures with my light hearted captions.

Wishing you random light hearted experiences,

Bernadette

About Bernadette

I live in the small town of Haddonfield, NJ. I am at an age in my life when I seem to spend time thinking and musing about life. These musings are usually stimulated by my walks through Haddonfield, my reading of books and fellow bloggers, and my interaction with my group of fabulous family and friends.

  1. Once one starts on a journey of affirming positives changes and habits in their life, it actually begins to manifest in reality. We can find happiness because it is not really far away from us. We just have to look within and grow a sense of gratitude. Lovely post 🙂

  2. Sometimes the events of life just become too much, so you need to have an outlet to remedy the sadness. I think you’ve found a great solution. Don’t you just wonder how some things just came to be along the road? I’m looking forward to more pics and captions.
PS, thanks for the invite 🙂

  3. One of my 6th graders said this to me last week: “You get more ideas to write from sad things than from happy things.” I’m glad you were able to find a happy thing to write about.

  4. I am so sorry this year has been difficult. To find such an oddity and find the humor in it speaks to your ability to see the fun and funny. Wishing you more of these moments and thanks for lightening my day!

  5. I can totally empathize with you on being serious and going through rough months, years (and even a decade!) on account of illness. When I read about gratitude list-making and started practicing it, it changed my outlook around for the better. Morning walks are the best therapy too, there’s something so beautiful and hopeful about a new morning that it just turns your day around! I’m sorry that you’ve had a rough year but hope you will have a wonderful last quarter of the year and the best years to come ! 😀

  6. Sometimes it is hard to find the lightness around us when we are going through troubling times. Finding something that makes us spontaneously bust out laughing is a treasure. Wishing you many more treasures.
