In an effort to be more disciplined about my writing, I am trying to start what I think of as weekly writing features. Posts that will contain writing on specific subjects. One of the subjects is feminism. I started a column last week that I named Feminist Friday.
As part of writing this column, I have been doing a lot of reading on the subject of feminism. One of the books I am reading is Feminism is for Everybody: Passionate Politics by Bell Hooks.
In my reading this morning she reminds the reader about the importance of sisterhood. Bell feels that the feminist movement has lost its emphasis on women remembering to help women.
I know that since most of the “Slicers” are teachers that you need no reminder about helping other women. I see evidence of your generosity to each other when I open my computer every morning.
I was a recipient of that generosity myself on Sunday. Carol Varsalona, one of our Slicers, has been very generous to me in sharing her knowledge about digital renderings. Thank you, Carol.
And thank you, all of you beautiful slicers, for your daily examples of generosity as you share your time and your knowledge without any fear of scarcity.

Wishing you sisterhood forever,
Bernadette
Bernadette,
What a great idea, creating areas to write about and dig into. I agree we Slicers, mostly teachers are quite adept in the giving department. I think it has a lot to do with the teacher side of us. Your discovery is interesting. I’m wondering,is that because they are helping everyone equally or not at all.

I think she means that now that profession women have achieved equality, we have forgotten our sisters who are not professionals and we are not concerned with them achieving parity.

Love you post, that picture you posted I could not believe it, but that is the same picture we had hanging in Lauren’s hospital room.

Well your Lauren is a great example of a strong woman who wants to help others, so I don’t think it probably is too much of a coincidence. I think you are the example that she followed and gained strength from.
