Fantasizing About A Mumu

This post goes out to my friend, Diana, who promised she would let me know when I finally can wear a mumu or a house dress.  I’m still waiting for the green light.

Do any of you remember your grandmother wearing her favorite mumu or house dress?  Do you remember how at ease they always looked?  Oh, and the dresses always had great big pockets where Grandmom always had stashed kleenex and hard candies.

Well, this week as I put on my pull up bra and my suck in spanks and tried to coordinate my slacks with the right sweater (a sweater that wouldn’t make me look like the Michelin man), I developed major Grandmom envy.

I started to lament to the tune of Wouldn’t It Be Loverly – All I want is some comfortable clothes, Far away from cruel underwear, With two enormous pockets,  Aow, wouldn’t it be loverly, loverly?

Doesn’t she look happy?

Wishing you a week filled with apparel ease.

  1. Oh yes, my grandma had apparel ease too. Dare I say, those were the days? However, I’m not ready to wear a dress every day. I prefer stretchy pants and warm fleece these days.

  2. My grandma used to wear a “shift,” which I think was like a housecoat. It used to crack me up since the patterns were always, well, loud. However, it’s a great vision to have of her in my head since I knew she was comfortable!

  3. M grandmother always wore a housedress. It was what she was comfortable wearing. My mother, on the other hand, liked to wear a caftan(?) around the house. I can still imagine her billowing around the house.

This is hilarious! I remember my husband’s grandma wearing these. And yes she always had a kleenex! I also have a neighbor who walks her dog wearing these! I think I will always prefer the sweats!
